Popular singer dies after collapsing on stage in Paris

Michael Benjamin, also known as Mikaben, a Haitian singer, died at the age of 41 after collapsing on stage, glamsquad reports.

Mikaben reportedly collapsed onstage in Paris while performing with the Haitian konpa band CaRiMi. A video from the concert shows Mikaben walking offstage before collapsing to the ground.

 

The incident was broadcast live on Twitter, with Frantz Duval, the editor of a Haitian newspaper, alerting fans to the fact that something was wrong. Mickael Guirand, the singer, then told the audience to leave.

“The concert is over. “We need to evacuate the room,” Guirand explained. “It’s very complicated; we need prayers.”

 

While he was being attended to, the venue was cleared, and reports indicate that he was given CPR.

 

 

Mikaben was a well-known singer, composer, guitarist, and producer whose song “Ayti Se” touched the hearts of millions in the aftermath of Haiti’s devastating 2010 earthquake. He was born in Port-au-Prince and began writing when he was 15 years old.

Mikaben released several albums, founded the band Krezi Mizik, and worked as a producer.

He was married to Vanessa Fanfan, with whom he had a daughter and a child on the way. Mikaben had a son from a previous relationship as well.
