The protest, which included slogans and appeals for justice, sought to bring attention to the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death and to seek justice.

The demonstration, which was coordinated by concerned teenagers and followers of the late musician dressed in black, began at the iconic NEPA roundabout and marched via the Oba Adesida road-Cathedral intersection before going down the Arakale route.

As the demonstration moved across Akure, its momentum intensified, attracting a rising number of young people who joined the cause. In addition to the physical rally, protesters used numerous social media platforms to spread their message.

MohBad, an afrobeat musician in the Nigerian music industry, died about a week ago, shortly after performing at an event in Ikorodu.

The news of his tragic passing sent shockwaves throughout the country, leaving fans and fellow artistes devastated, with many suspecting foul play in the circumstances surrounding his demise.

According to one of the protesters, Yemi Afolabi, Mohbad was a budding artist whose beacon was shut down in his prime.

“His music resonated with us, and he had a promising future ahead. We cannot accept his death without answers. We demand justice for Mohbad.

“No one will accept what happened to him. Mohbad was killed, and before his death, he revealed all those who tormented and were after his life.

“There are many video evidence of how he was bullied, assaulted, and humiliated. He even wrote a petition to the police about all that he was going through, but no action was taken until he died,” he said.

The protesters called on law enforcement agencies to expedite the investigation into Mohbad’s death and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

They emphasised the need for a transparent and impartial investigation, free from undue influence or cover-ups
