Funke Akindele gets emotional, dedicates new movie to her late mother (Video)

Award-winning actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele has dedicated her new movie, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ to her late mother, Dr Adebanjo Akindele.

The Box Office Queen held the premiere of her much-talked-about movie on Sunday, 10th December at Imax Cinema in Lagos.

The movie premiere tagged ‘Costume Party Extravaganza’, had lots of celebrities in attendance rocking different movie and cartoon characters’ costumes.

In attendance are BBNaija’s Season 7 winner, Phyna, Shaffy Bello, Ini Edo Adunni Ade, Odunlade Adekola, Femi Adebayo, Faithia Williams, Ruth Kadiri, Juliana Olayode, Ali Baba, Timi Egbuson, Daniel Etim Effiong, Lasisis Elenu, Hilda Dokubo, Nse Ikpe-Etim. among several others.

During the premiere, the Box Office Queen disclosed that she wrote the movie script without knowing that her mother would pass away.

Akindele further disclosed that she wrote the script before her mother passed away in February 2023. She dedicated the film to her mother and asked the audience to enjoy it and share it with others. Additionally, she emphasized the importance of people in the industry coming together and working as a team.

“This story is so passionate. It is dedicated to my mum, who passed away in February. I didn’t know my mum was going to pass on but I wrote the story, but she is gone now, thank God. I want you all to enjoy the movie and pass it on”.
