Special Spesh, Davido’s hypeman, has expressed his displeasure after the singer lost to Tyla in a category for which both were nominated at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

After Davido lost in all three categories for which he was nominated, Special Spesh turned to Instagram to complain.
He wrote, “We will not give you the authority to dumb down Afrobeats, Afro Fusion, or anything African.”
“That’s (white) America’s problem!! When things begin to take over and become big, they constantly want a piece, then a say, and finally control!!!”
Spesh captioned his post with “Gbedu about squ*rting don win,” using a hashtag.
He was referring to the line “Make me sweat” from Tyla’s Grammy-winning song Water.
Tyla’s Water beat Davido’s ‘Unavailable’, Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys’, Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’, and Asake’s ‘Amapiano’ to win the 2024 Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance.
