Nigerian musicians Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, Asake, and Ayra Starr have all been eliminated from the 2024 Grammy Awards nominations.

South African diva, Tyla on Sunday beats Nigerian Asake, Davido Ayra Starr and other to win the Grammy for the Best African Music Performance with her global viral song, Water.
The 2023 hit, Water, topped the charts in 16 nations, including the United Kingdom and the United States.
Tyla’s Water won the Grammy against Amapiano by Asake and Olamide, City Boy by Burna Boy, and Unavailable.
Her single “Water” is not only a global hit, but also a song that can stand on its own anywhere, at any time.
Davido, who was getting his first-ever nomination for the prestigious award, was nominated for ‘Best Global Album’ for his latest album, ‘Timeless’. Others are ‘Best African Performance’ for his song ‘Unavailable’ and ‘Best Global Music Performance’ for his track ‘Feel’.
He also lost the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ to ‘Pashto’ by Béla Fleck, Edgar Meyer & Zakir Hussain Featuring Rakesh Chaurasia, and ‘Best Global Album’ to Shakti’s ‘The Moment’.
Burna boy got four nominations and lost all. ‘City Boys’ was one of his four nominations which he lost to J Cole’s All My Life featuring Lil Durk. Others are: ‘Sittin’ On Top of The World’ feat. 21 Savage – Best Melodic Rap-, ‘I Told Them’ – Best Global Music Album, and ‘Alone’ – Best Global Music Performance.
Burna Boy is the first African artist to earn a Grammy nomination in five consecutive years (2019-2023).
Best African Music Performance is one of three brand new categories debuting at the 2024 Grammy Awards, along with Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Pop Dance Recording. Kylie Minogue won the latter award.
The award ceremony is currently being held at the Peacock Theater at 15:30 in LA.
