He claimed that the youngster’s musical triumphs inspired him to believe in “miracles.”

This was stated by Davido in a recent interview with Kiss FM in London, United Kingdom.

While recalling how Rema used to come to his estate with his record label boss, D’Prince, as a shy and quiet youngster, the Omo Baba Olowo crooner said he was happy of his tremendous growth as an artist.

“I saw Rema in New York two days ago,” he explained. And I hugged him and told him, “I’m so proud of you.” Because I recall him visiting my place with D’Prince back then. And calmly relaxing in my living room. He didn’t say anything, unaware that he would have the top charting Afrobeats single ever [on Billboard Hot 100] with ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez. That’s insane!”

“You know, he’s just a kid from Benin, and then you see something like that happen, it makes you believe in miracles,” he added.

Davido characterized afrobeats as a way for many Africans to overcome poverty.

He chastised the administration for failing to do enough to combat poverty.

He, on the other hand, expressed satisfaction that Nigeria and the African continent are endowed with entertainment that may help reduce poverty.

Rema debuted to music lovers in 2019 with his self-titled extended play (EP), which included singles including Dumebi, Iron Man, Corny, and others.

His song ‘Calm Down,’ which includes American singer Selena Gomez, reached at Number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 list in April 2023, becoming the highest-charting Afrobeats song in the history of the chart.
