Kunle Afolayan’s 2022 film Anikulapo won the most nominations at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
Despite the fact that the film was nominated in 15 categories and had 16 nominations, Anikulapo’s lead actor, Kunle Remi, did not receive a single nomination.
During an interview on the popular TV show ‘Your View,’ the Anikulapo star boasted that his removal from the AMVCA 2023 nomination list did not weaken him, his style, renown, or vitality.
When asked about the nomination, he responded, “Nomination, well, I fell into the category of non-nominated artistes.” It has no bearing on my worth, fame, or energy.”
Kunle Remi has stated that he is unaffected by the snub because his position as “Saro” was chosen as a challenge rather than an award.
Remi’s rejection was supposed to be the outcome of an interview he gave in which he claimed a senior colleague tried to seduce him into homosexuality.
