Adekunle Gold Reveals He Trekked Long Distances To Sell His Music

Superstar Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold has reminisced on his struggle days in life and the Nigerian entertainment industry.

AG Baby as he is fondly called narrated in a newsletter that he and his friend Michael used to trek long distances just to sell their CDs.

The Sade singer said:

“I remember walking from Maryland to Ikeja to give out our CDs in traffic, we really pushed and pushed because we both knew we had something in us that the world needed to hear.’’

He also noted that people only started believing in his music prowess after he met Michael who has remained a friend and produced some tracks in his new album.

He said:

“As I was reflecting, I remembered fighting so hard to lead the choir at Doers of the Word and never getting that spot but look at me today. It was not until my parents moved us from Ifako Ijaiye to Ikotun and I met my best friend Michael that people really started paying attention to my musical ability.”

The “Orente’’ crooner hit the spotlight after signing with Olamide’s YBNL record label.

Since then, he has gone on to establish presence as one of the biggest acts in the African entertainment industry.

His wife and co-star Simi is also one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, they both share a child together.
