White Eyeliner: The Most Flattering Makeup Trend this Season

White really comes into its own for summer. White parties (cancelled, but we can dream), white wine (not cancelled, so keep it coming).

Makeup-wise there’s one makeup switch we’ve seen that will freshen up your look no end which – you guessed it – revolves around white, too: specifically, crisp white liner set against deepening summer skin tones.

Ri-Ri’s slaying it, Jodie Comer’s doing it, Margot Robbie did it, Bella Hadid’s wearing it, Janelle Monae’s killing it and Sophie Turner’s on board as well.

“It’s perfect,” says makeup artist Christabel Draffin, who has worked with Daisy Lowe and Pixie Lott.. “Keep your base light and translucent, that way the white liner is a fresh punctuation point for the face,” she adds.

The brightening effect works on any skin tone, but looks spectacular set against darker skin tones, and there’s even more good news. According to Draffin, it’s more forgiving than your classic black liner.

“It doesn’t need to be perfectly symmetrical, you can get away with it being a little off.” But don’t skimp on mascara, she warns.

“The look doesn’t provide as much definition as black drawn close to the eyes, so give the face dimension with defined lashes.”
