NATURAL HAIR REMEDIES

When it comes to hair, you and I both know that specific techniques work for specific people and we have to constantly keep looking for regimens that work for our hair type and scalp.

Here are a few remedies of common hair problems

DANDRUFF

Dandruff is a problem that we all suffer and this tip will keep your dandruff at bay for a while. Research shows that Baking Soda can be used as a natural scrub and it also reduces the fungi causing dandruffs. Add one tbsp of baking soda to a handful of your normal shampoo and thoroughly but gently scrub your scalp then rinse it off with water.

You could alternatively use tea tree oil in place of baking soda since tea tree oil has natural antiseptic and antibiotic properties making it the best oil for getting rid of dandruffs.

THINNING HAIR

Once upon a time you had thick, voluminous hair then with regular use of hair relaxers, you realized your hair was thinning out. Don’t worry because there is a solution to your problem and it is an inexpensive one too.

  • Heat a mixture of equal amounts of castor oil and coconut oil
  • Apply it on your hair and scalp
  • Massaging it in circular motions,
  • Comb out your hair and cover it with a damp warm towel
  • Leave it for an hour then shampoo

Do this once every week and give your hair its “thick” glory back…oh oh, and all this at the comfort of your home that was not expensive now was it? This only works if the cause of your hair thinning is not medically and genetically related.

SHADING

When combing your hair you are supposed to shed some kidogo hair which hair experts call ‘dead hair’. Normally this is just a few strands of hair but if your comb is half-filled with hair after few you need to get busy with this remedy. According to The Indian Spot (no fuss but we all know Indian hair is the ideal hair) hibiscus hair mask could solve your hair loss problem.

  • Take some hibiscus flowers and dry them in the sun for two days.
  • Grind the dried flowers into powder
  • Mix one tbsp. of the powder into two tbsp of yoghurt and a tbsp of olive oil.
  • Mix the ingredients until the hibiscus color is visible then apply on your hair and leave on for 20minutes before rinsing your hair with plain water.

Apply mask once a week for good results.

GREY HAIR

So this tip is from me, I have grown up seeing my aunt use it so believe me when I say it will save you from those strands of grey hair.

This requires black henna (the one that comes in a bluish packet with an Indian model on the front) pardon my description because am sure all henna packets have Indian models on them lol! Mix this with water until you achieve a thick paste, you could add in any oil of your choice i.e coconut or olive oil to keep your hair moisturized then apply henna in the hair and let it dry off before rinsing it off.

You will see your grey hair having turned to a nice shade of brown/ gold and it will blend in perfectly with your black hair and the good thing with henna is that it is not permanent just incase you are proud of your grey strands it will wash off after a few weeks.
