Fashion Photographer David Turner Dies at 64

Fashion photographer, David Turner has been pronounced dead on June 18th at the age of 64. Even if you haven’t met photographer David Turner, there’s a good chance you’ve seen his work.

Known for his exceptional talent in capturing the essence of high-fashion through his lens, Turner’s has worked with Ralph Lauren, Audrey Hepburn, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and others. With a career spanning over three decades, he collaborated with top designers and models to create iconic images that challenged traditional standards of beauty and style.

A man of many talents, whose exacting nature extended to other endeavors like teaching, baking, and playing the trumpet, Turner was not one to take on any task half-heartedly. Turner began his 17-year tenure as a staff photographer at WWD in 1989, and during that time, he worked on assignments for W magazine and specialized in taking portraits of famous people and fashion icons like Karl Lagerfeld and Ralph Lauren as well as celebrities like Audrey Hepburn and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. In 2006, Turner left the company to become a staff photographer at Hearst Magazines, where he handled assignments for Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire, Town & Country, and other publications.

Turner’s legacy will continue to inspire aspiring photographers and fashion enthusiasts alike, leaving an indelible mark on the artistic landscape he passionately dedicated his life to shaping.
