Singer Adele has wowed millions of fans by doing an incredible act by assisting a male fan in proposing to his girlfriend at her CBS special ‘Adele One Night Only,’ despite remarking that it was ‘a little odd’ to play cupid while promoting her ‘divorce, babe’ album.
As part of the two-hour event, a fan called Quentin brought his unknowing seven-year-old companion, Ashley, to Griffith Observatory, where Adele performed for superstars such as Gordon Ramsey, Melissa McCarthy, Gabrielle Union, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Ellen DeGeneres.
‘I need everyone to be very quiet, alright?’ ‘If you make a noise, I’m going to kill you,’ the 15th Grammy winner joked as he led Ashley, who was blindfolded, to the platform.
Ashley was surprised to find the crowd in front of her when she removed her blindfold, and she asked her soon-to-be fiancé about it. ‘Who are these individuals?’
‘Thank God you didn’t let me eat, I would’ve vomited up,’ Ashley continued, before realizing Adele was hidden behind the stage’s bright lights, causing the celebrity audience to burst out laughing.
Adele approached from the shadows as an obviously stunned Ashley brushed away her shock tears after Quentin proposed.
‘Hello Ashley. Hi Quentin, you alright?’ said Adele. The British singer then instructed them to take the seats in the front row and enjoy the ‘Make You Feel My Love’ performance.
The concert, Adele’s first in over four years, was pre-recorded in October.
‘Thank God she said yes, because I didn’t know who I was going to have to sing this song to, you or him. Oh my god. Look at her, she’s so in shock,’ Adele said as Melissa McCarthy offered champagne to Ashley.
But Quentin’s emotive speech had his fiancée in tears long before Adele unveiled her presence to Ashley, who went up to the stage and hugged the singer after her performance.
‘Listen, I want to say thank you. I want to thank you for being so patient with me,’ Quentin said between nervous laughs before composing himself and continuing with the romantic speech.
‘I’m extremely proud of you – and I mean – everyday, you blow my mind. There is absolutely nothing that you cannot do and I just know you are going to be an amazing mother to our kids one day, and I love you. I love you, I love you, I love you and will continue to love you forever,’ Quentin said before finally asking ‘Will you marry me?’
When Ashley said yes, the crowd stood up and cheered the lovely couple, as piano notes of ”Make You Feel My Love’ started playing and Adele emerged from the stage and casually greeted Ashley.
‘Hello Ashley, hi Quentin, You alright?’ said Adele before instructing them to go sit in the front row.
