Box Office– ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ eyes $100 million

The Thursday night previews of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” brought in $17.5 million, putting movie on track for a $100 million opening weekend.

The most recent movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the first film in phase five of the franchise, which is the middle phase of the Multiverse Saga.

The opening day figures for “Quantumania” on Thursday are comparable to those of 2017’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” which amassed $147 million in its first day. Before, “Ant-Man” from 2015 brought in $6 million on Thursday and $57 million over the course of three days.

The 2018 film “Ant-Man and the Wasp” earned $12 million in its Thursday opening and $76 million over the course of the following three days.

The opening weekend earnings include Thursday previews.

“‘Quantumania’ is tracking to become the best February box office opener in five years,” said Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at BoxOffice.com.
