Ali Nuhu deletes post condemning Davido over Logos Olori’s music video

Ali Nuhu, a Nigerian actor, has deleted an Instagram post in which he condemned Afrobeat singer Davido, born David Adeleke, for a music video that the latter had shared online.

Singer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, had caved in to Muslim criticism and deleted the contentious music video of his signee Logos Olori.

Davido promoted the artist by sharing the music video on his Twitter page last Friday.

The music video, which was deemed offensive by several Muslims, showed Logos Olori sitting on the roof of a mosque.

In the video, some people posed as Muslims praying before breaking out into dancing.

Some Muslims, particularly in northern Nigeria, found the video offensive and demanded that the musician remove it and apologise for his actions.

In an Instagram post on July 23, Ali responded to the video by saying that the singer should learn to respect other people’s religions, cultures, and traditions.

The Kannywood star urged Davido to remove the video and apologise to Muslims for offending them.

He wrote, “I just came across the controversial video by @Davido, as much we want to be creative in our various fields, we should learn to respect other people’s religion, culture and tradition.

“This is totally unacceptable in Islam. You should pull down that video and apologise for hurting the entire Muslim ummah.”

Following days of online criticism, it was discovered on Monday that the DMW boss had deleted the video but had yet to apologise as of press time.

Ali, for his part, deleted an earlier post in which he condemned Davido.

In another post, the actor expressed gratitude to the ‘OBO’ singer for removing the video. He urged anyone who was offended by the video to “let love lead.”

He wrote, “Thank you for deleting that post @davido, to everyone who felt offended by his post please let sleeping dogs lie. Let love lead, I am̲ personally not against anyone but Please I am appealing to all my fans to desist from any dragging, abuse or insult. Thanks.”
