The ‘Gongo Aso’ singer revealed this in the most recent episode of the Chart with Sims podcast.
“Don’t become popular, o, make money,” he advised. I was popular when I first started, but I didn’t have any money.”
He also stated that money began to flow after he put in work.
“The money didn’t just come in,” 9ice explained, “I had to do the right thing.” We were heavily reliant on Alaba International Market at the time. We didn’t have Facebook, Instagram, or anything else back then. If you want your song to be popular in Kaduna, you must conduct a radio interview there. You must be present for people to see you.”
“So, when the money started coming in, that’s when we started working hard and marketing the brand by doing print interviews in newspapers and magazines, putting your face out there.” I mean, sometimes people have good songs and their fans have no idea what they look like.
“I don’t think it’s just about becoming popular. However, putting your brand out there. Promote and market it. Let your face be known, and the money will follow,” he added.
