In celebration of International Women’s Day, which was on Sunday the 8th of March, International Women’s Society (IWS) on Tuesday the 10th of March held an Investiture ceremony for Hajiya Zainab Saleh- the 58th President of IWS. The event which also doubled as a fund raising one took place at Terra Kulture in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The investiture ceremony was well attended by members and supporters of IWS, they included Lady Maiden Ibru, Chief Mrs Marlies Allan, Hajiya Mariam Bello, Honorable Yusuf Tuggar, Engr. Bayo Adeola, Mrs Gbemi Sasore, Mrs Nkiru Anumudu, Mrs Ekua Abudu, Mrs Ego Boyo, Mrs Frances Oghene, Ms Femi Atilade, Ms Nikki Khiran, Richard Sheidu and many other important dignitaries.
IWS was founded in 1957 by both Nigerian and non-Nigerian, public spirited women who had a common goal to faster cooperation and interaction between women of various nationalities and uplift the situation of women and children.
IWS is a non-political, non-profit, non-religious and non-governmental association, embracing women from all over the world. IWS is affiliated to the Nigerian National Council of Women and the Open Door Association of International Women at the Hague in the Netherlands. The association is managed by an executive committee made up of dedicated and committed professionals.
