Despite the setback, she revealed that the project became her motivation for recovery.

On Sunday, Wumi shared photos of her injured leg and hand on Instagram, recounting the painful experience.

She explained that the accident occurred when she slipped and fell heavily in her room while alone with her son.

Her nanny was on leave, and her child was left screaming as she struggled to move.

She was afraid she wouldn’t be able to stand, but her long-held dream of filming Queen Lateefah motivated her to persevere.

She wrote, “Good morning lovers, happy Sunday to you all. I feel the nudge to share my little ‘scar story.’ I was ready for my cinema debut Queen Lateefah.

“The costumier was ready, the team was ready, and just two days before the shoot, I had a heavy slip in my room.

“I fell so hard. I was with my son, my nanny had gone for a break, and I couldn’t stand. My little boy was screaming, but I stayed strong at heart. At first, I thought I wouldn’t be able to stand, but somehow, the dream of shooting Queen Lateefah kept me going. That dream became my motivation.”

She recalled her hospital visit where doctors confirmed the severity of her injury.

Although she was still in significant pain and unable to walk properly, the shooting schedule remained unchanged, with everything set for the planned date.

“I couldn’t walk well, but we resumed filming. My hands were still bleeding under the bandage. I couldn’t afford to bleed internally by not bringing this story to life,” she said.

The costumier had to make adjustments to ensure her fresh scars wouldn’t be visible on camera.

Wumi reflected on the lesson she learned through her ordeal, “A scar is a sign of strength. Just so you know, it’s a STAR, not a SCAR.”
