Would Judith Audu’s Stormy Hearts Movie Surpass The Success Of Just Not Married?!

Just as the much anticipated movie of the year, Stormy Hearts hits the cinemas in 2 days June 2;  what’s been going on in the minds of fans, film critics and film professionals and the question everyone seems to be asking is “Would Stormy Hearts movie surpass the success of Just Not Married?” which still holds the record of the most successful film in 2016 made by an indie film maker which happens to be her first attempt as a film producer. Now let’s take a look at how successful Just Not Married became last year and this year, facts don’t lie. With several nominations, Just Not Married went home with these winnings:

  • Winner, Best Supporting Actor, Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (2017)
  • Winner, Nollywood Viewers Choice Awards, MAYA Awards (2017)
  • Winner, Outstanding Actress, Abuja international Film Festival 2016
  • Winner, Best Nigerian Film, Eko International Film Festival 2016
  • Winner, Most Promising Actor, Best of Nollywood Awards 2016

It takes a lot of hard work  and grace for an indie film with a cast of new faces to be this successful, winning these awards and going ahead to book a spot among the top 8 African films selected to screen at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival TIFF 2016. How Judith Audu flanked by her ever supportive hubby Mr. Morten Foght whom the media seems to be leaving out in all the success tales pulled this through, no one knows but can she repeat this same gold finger touch which many have attributed to luck backed upon by producing at the right time with the right story with in her star studded new movie Stormy Hearts which is currently trending all over the internet following Judith Audu’s relentless media tour and interview sessions with the casts.

Stormy Hearts movie stars Christiana Martin, Theresa Edem-Isemin, Eddie Watson, Kenneth Okolie, Fred Amata, Etinosa Idemudia, Kelechi Udegbe, Greg Ojefua, Rotimi Salami, Stan Nze, and a host of others.

Stormy Hearts was produced by Judith Audu, directed by Tope Alake, and written by Brenda Ogbuka and Chijioke Ononiwu.

Let’s take a look at Stormy Hearts movie story-line.

After Basi, a music producer quarrels with his protege Kachi, a talented singer, over her partying ways, she abandons him for Johnson, a bigger music producer in town and the breakup hits Basi hard.

Meanwhile, Ella, a prostitute escapes from her abusive pimp, Goldigga to another city to start a new life. She finds an apartment right next to Basi’s flat, where she would hear Basi playing mournfully on the piano each night.
Ella and Basi paths cross and after much pleading from Ella they develop a relationship that changes both their lives forever.

My View:

From the story line and the first trailer cut, you could tell its a musical film with loads of twists and turns, betrayals, back-stabs and loads of sex…. i mean sex! make believe or real but i see lots of it playing out in the scenes. Am trying not to give a detail review of this movie just from what we see from the trailers because trailers could be deceiving so i would wait until after seeing it at the cinemas.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed and see what the ever tireless Judith Audu does with this new movie which would not only put her out as the most viable indie female producer worth an investment if Stormy hearts becomes more successful as everyone hopes it would be.

Stormy Hearts hits cinemas across Nigeria on June 2, go get your tickets….
