WIZKID JUMPS TO DRAKE’S DEFENCE

After the release of Wizkid’s recent single ‘come closer’ featuring US pop and hip hop heavyweight Drake, we have come to accept that Wizkid and Drake are cool. This would be the third piece of music that contains material from both parties.

The hit single ‘One Dance’ on Drakes views from the 6 was a Billboard number one hit for 15 weeks and was spotify’s most streamed song ever. Then people got talking that Wizkid’s vocal length in the song was too short.

Naija twitter got set ablaze when the video of his new song ‘come closer’ came out and Drake wasn’t seeing in the Video. A lot of reference was made to the Dbanj and Snoop Dogg Collabo which seems to be the mother of all Nigerian international collabos. The bottom line is that this new single with Drake which is supposed to be a payback for Wizkids contribution on One Dance would have been as hyper as the aforementioned collabo if Drake has done Wizkid the honour of appearing for the Video.

But in a recent interview Wizkid graned BBC he said we were going back and forth with records when we made that, so big shout out to Drake – he always shows me love. That was pretty easy.

“When I had the idea, I just sent it to him and was like ‘Yo, what do you think?’ and said ‘sounds wavy’… and the next day he sent me back a verse and that was it.”

He said Drake couldn’t make the video because he was out on tour. My answer is why couldn’t you fix a date he would be available? What do you think?
