Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, popularly known as Blackface, a veteran singer-songwriter and ex-member of the defunct Plantashun Boiz, has accused Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake of intellectual property theft, glamsquad reports
According to the ‘Ghetto Child’ singer, the band sampled his songs without his permission.
The charges were made by Blackface during a recent appearance with Naija FM in Lagos.
“Ginger” by Wizkid and Burna [Boy] is a sample of my tune ‘Twist & Turn’; the rhythms, the beat, and how the melody begins and ends. “Only the verses change,” he explained.
Asake was also accused by Blackface of sampling his song ‘Ikebe Supa’ in ‘Joha.’
“‘Joha’ by Asake is a sample of my song ‘Ikebe Supa.'” “I inspire them,” he explained.
The veteran singer stated that he is not against young artists sampling his songs, but rather the method in which they do it without his consent.
