Another new feature in the current preview edition of Windows 11 is voice access, which allows users to control many components of their PC and compose text using voice commands.

You may use the new functionality to open and switch between apps, browse the web, and operate the mouse and keyboard. For example, you can say “click start” or “click cancel” to activate an item such as a button or a link. Similarly, you’ll be able to launch an app simply saying “open Edge” or “open Word.”

Searching and modifying text, as well as dealing with overlays, are other features that can be engaged with using one’s voice. Microsoft gave a complete set of voice commands, but noted that it only supports the English-US option in the display language area.

Microsoft has also made it easy for first-time Linux users to install the Windows Subsystem for Linux via the Microsoft Store.

In addition, Microsoft is introducing the Spotlight collection to Windows 11, which will “keep your desktop fresh and inspirational.” Every day, new desktop images from around the world will be presented, along with relevant data about the image itself.

Microsoft just published a new Notepad in addition to Insider peek build 22518. A new user interface includes modifications such as rounded corners, but the most intriguing addition is a dark mode component. The updated Notepad also answers a “top community feature request” by providing multilevel undo capabilities.

There is presently no timetable for when all of these changes will be available to all Windows 11 users, but expect them to be available sometime in 2022. Regarding the most recent preview build released in the Windows 11 Dev Channel, Microsoft announced that it will not be available to ARM64 PCs due to an issue that it is actively working to resolve.

Regarding Microsoft’s plans for Windows 11 in 2022, one area of focus for the firm is performance, with the tech giant emphasizing how enhancing the responsiveness of the future operating system will be a priority.
