Well-known comedian and talented musician Bright Okpocha, popularly referred to as Basketmouth has recently shed some light on why he subtly criticized celebrated music artist Ayo Balogun, commonly known as Wizkid, during Davido’s traditional wedding ceremony two weeks ago, which was all over the news.
You might recall how Wizkid stirred up controversy with a rather ambiguous tweet he posted shortly after his supposed rival Davido shared his stunning pre-wedding photos on social media, which naturally generated a lot of buzz.
In response to this, Basketmouth took to social media to express how Davido’s wedding had taken the internet by storm, effectively implying that nobody was really bothered about Wizkid’s comment, which not surprisingly sparked outrage among many people, especially the dedicated fans of Star Boy.
In a new video, Basketmouth went on to explain that the tweet in which he appeared to criticize Wizkid was actually a clever marketing strategy, since he knew it would inevitably result in backlash and attract even more attention to the situation. The comedian cum actor further explained that…
“Wizkid is my guy, what I did was a marketing technique, I knew it was edgy, it would get people talking and it did what I expected it to do, it worked in my favour”.
