We are a third world country- Nkem Owoh rates Nollywood ahead of Hollywood, others

Veteran Nollywood actor, Nkem Owoh has commended Nollywood in comparison to other movie industries like Hollywood.

In a recent interview with a news reporter in Enugu, the movie icon said that the stories in Nigerian movies were much superior than those in their Bollywood and Hollywood equivalents.

Nkem Owoh also praised Nollywood, saying that as Nigerian movies depict real-life events and incidents, it is incorrect to contrast their production values with those of advanced nations.

He said, “If you check the time and how we started, you give kudos because we are making a tremendous progress in the industry.”

“The storyline we take is better than any story from any woods, we don’t have the technology, but we have the story.

“We are a third world country coming up, and people should give us kudos for the level we have attained.”

When discussing technology in Nollywood, he pointed out that Nigerian film makers solely used equipment that was imported from developed nations.

Osuofia claimed that Nollywood had advanced to the next stage of development with the technology now in use.

“I believe, with the stories and creativity among us, if we get the needed technology, we will go places”.
