Victory Gbakara emerges winner of Nigerian Idol season eight

Nigerian Idib has announced Victory Gbakara as the winner if the 8th edition of the singing competition.

Gbakara, 26, who is a Lawyer, singer and song writer was announced as the winner during the show’s finale on Sunday, 16th July after after defeating Precious Mac.

Having won the show, Gbakara will get N100 million grand prize, part of which is N35 million in cash. He will also get a music record deal and a video shoot.

The show final began with a group performance from all the contestants alongside the judges.

D’banj, Simi and Obi Asika led the chorus of ‘Hall of Fame’, a 2014 song by the Star of Copenhagen, Switzerland.

This year’s season was hosted by media personality, IK Osakioduwa. The premiered in April and has been captivating audiences with live shows for 10 weeks, running from 23rd April to 16th July.

Nigerian Idol kicked off its first in October 2010 with the slogan “Live Your Dream”. It is widely referred to as the spin of West African Idol.

It has evolved into a highly desirable platform for Nigerians aged 18 to 28, where they can showcase their musical talents. Currently, the show is being broadcasted on 15 channels across Africa.
