Innocent Idibia, top Nigerian singer who is known these days as Tubaba is to receive a honorary degree at Igbinedion University. That’s a big honour because Tuface since his early music career has been a subject of ridicule with regards to educational qualifications hence the lyric “Just because I no finish school some people dem take me for a fool” in a hit song off his first album.
The Jos born artist has gone on to distinguish himself in the music industry and society at large despite that, to the extent Igbinedion University administrators have deemed him fit for a honourary degree. This is just like the story of Puff Daddy the US rapper/executive (a dropout) who was honoured with a degree by Howard University.
Tuface is said to have dropped out of school for the love of music, and the music in return has given back to him a degree. But young ones please stay in school, you can achieve so many things at the same time in these days of technology.
