Jose Baez, who is optimistic about winning an appeal, Tory Lanez could not be facing a 22-year prison term if he had retained him as his defense counsel during the trial.
Tory’s new powerful attorney, who is best known for successfully securing Casey Anthony’s acquittal, appeared on “TMZ Live” on Tuesday.
He said he is prepared to fight tooth and nail for Tory as well, but, curiously, added that he wishes the defendant had called him to testify.
Baez hinted strongly that there were several things he would have done differently if he had been representing Lanez during his trial for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, though he wouldn’t go into much detail before appearing before the judge.
According to Baez, his client has never been convicted before, so he has never experienced anything similar, but he claims he is making adjustments.
Lanez last week made a major effort, hiring David Kenner, Matthew Barhoma, and Baez to help him with his appeal.
Along with the Anthony case, Jose also represented Aaron Hernandez, who committed suicide while appealing his conviction for the murder of Odin Lloyd.
