Toolz criticizes 2Baba over divorce announcement, says Annie deserved better

Media personality and former, OAP Tolulope Oniru, better known as Toolz, has weighed in on the ongoing divorce saga between music icon 2Baba and his wife, Annie Idibia.

On a recent episode of her podcast, Off Air, Toolz shared her thoughts on the situation, stating that 2Baba and Annie should have handled their divorce privately. She criticized the timing of 2Baba’s post, pointing out that Annie was already going through a difficult period.

Expressing sympathy for Annie, Toolz reflected on her deep love for 2Baba and how many had hoped for a fairytale ending for her, only for things to take a different turn. She emphasized that 2Baba should have been more considerate, especially since Annie was facing heavy criticism over her portrayal on Young, Famous & African. She reminded him that Annie was not only someone he once loved but also the mother of his children.

Toolz also noted that many celebrities go through divorces discreetly, suggesting that 2Baba and Annie could have done the same.

She said,

“There is a lot that goes on in marriages. They [2face and Annie] have had very public ups and downs. But I just feel that this is something they could have handled privately, especially with what was going on with Annie at that point.

It didn’t need to come out now. People get divorced privately all the time. Everybody knows that Annie loves 2Face very much. It is quite sad for a lot of people because when you think about their love journey, everybody wanted a happy-ever-after for her, but life happened.

I feel like somebody you got married to, at some point, I imagined you loved, mother of your children, everything when she’s going through something really publicly, and people are attacking her, it’s not nice to just come and announced that you’re divorcing her that same period.”

Toolz’s remarks add to the growing list of celebrities weighing in on 2Baba and Annie’s divorce saga.

Nigerian rapper and former Plantashun Boiz member Blackface penned an open letter to the estranged couple, urging them to handle their separation with decorum and civility. Acknowledging that every relationship has its ups and downs, he advised them to keep their issues within the family and prayed for God’s strength to see them through.

Similarly, actress Iyabo Ojo expressed disappointment in 2Baba over the timing of his post, emphasizing that Annie is currently in a vulnerable state. She prayed for the couple to navigate this difficult phase while prioritizing the well-being of their children.

Media personality, Toke Makinwa also weighed in, expressing disappointment in 2Baba’s actions and vowing to stand firmly by Annie’s side.

BBNaija’s Queen Atang shared her concern for the actress, hoping she was holding up well amid the turmoil. Similarly, fellow reality star Khloe Abiri fiercely defended Annie, questioning why 2Baba would make such an announcement at a time when Annie was already facing intense online criticism.

Actress and filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku didn’t hold back, calling out 2Baba for publicly humiliating his wife at her lowest. Declaring herself part of Annie’s family, she berated the singer’s actions and warned him to be ready for tough questions when the time comes.

Celebrity designer Toyin Lawani also chimed in, cautioning against kicking someone when they’re already down. She advocated for love, empathy, and learning from life’s challenges.
