Toke Makinwa, Mary Njoku, Ife Agoro, others slam 2Baba over divorce news

Tuface and Annie Idibia

The news of music Icon, 2Baba and his wife, Annie Idibia going their separate ways has continued to trend on social media.

Last night, 26th January 2Baba took to his Instagram page to announce the end of his 13-year-old marriage to Annie.

“Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long…I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now, and currently filed for divorce.

“I would grant a press release soon to say my story. Not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offense. Stay blessed my people. I love you all.”

Shortly after, the post was deleted and another post appeared, claiming that the page had been compromised. It read:

“My Instagram account has been hacked, efforts are being carried out to take back control. #onelove!”

In an unexpected twist, 2Baba later shared a video to set the record straight. He admitted that the controversial post on his social media about his separation from Annie Idibia was indeed his doing.

Contrary to earlier claims, he clarified that his account had not been hacked, subtly affirming the authenticity of the initial separation announcement.

Celebrities such as Toke Makinwa, Mary Remmy Njoku, Influencer, Ifedayo Agoro, Bbnaija Khloe, Toyin Lawani, amongst others.

Toke Makinwa condemned the singer’s actions, calling them unacceptable. She noted that 2Baba should be ashamed of airing such private matters in the media and public space, emphasizing that people would rally behind Annie.

“This is wrong on all levels and you should be ashamed of yourself for bringing this here. Bring it on, if you think she’s alone let me tell you here that you’ll have to fight all of us.”

”I’m not one for too much talk but what is wrong is wrong and as a woman if you sit on the fence on this one, if it misses you, it’ll touch your daughter or any female in your family.

No one is innocent, and if you want to bring the media into it, knowing what is happening, we would fight for her.”

In a follow-up reaction on her personal Instagram account, Toke clarified that she isn’t advocating for anyone to remain in a situation that no longer serves them. Her issue lies with the singer’s decision to bring such a private matter to social media, particularly at this sensitive time.

She hinted at knowing the untold realities behind closed doors that the public isn’t aware of. Reaffirming her support for Annie, Toke emphasized that time reveals all truths and assured that someday, the world would understand the full story.

“Nobody is asking anybody to stay in a situation that’s not serving them any purpose anymore. By all means, leave if you just want, but why bring this online at this very moment? We know what’s going on behind closed doors. The world doesn’t know anything; it’s already been hectic with options flying around, and when I say we will fight for her, I’m not talking about the general public. A handful of people know the truth nd time will tell. Timing is everything. Empathy is everything.
You constantly preach love, you cannot add to the narrative that’s out here when you know what is really happening behind closed doors”.

For Mary Remmy Njoku, she believes 2Baba humiliated his wife. The mother of three, without holding back, asserted that she was once part of the family Annie Idibia built. She criticized the father of seven for choosing to publicly disgrace his wife during her most vulnerable moments.

In her reproach, Mary Remmy Njoku challenged his mindset and warned him to be ready to face tough questions when the time comes.

“Bro, Annie has family o! Your sisters in law are many and we ve stayed quiet out of respect for her tough choices. But since you have decided to humiliate get at her lowest, no wahala. It’s your choice. Just make sure she is healthy and okay. Because when the time comes we’ll have plenty of questions for you.”

Ifedayo Agoro, widely known on Instagram as Diary of a Naija Girl, the founder of Dang Community and a passionate advocate for women also slammed 2Baba.

Ife Agoro criticized men like 2Baba, accusing them of manipulating women into losing their sense of self, only to discard them later. She expressed her anger, emphasizing that she steers clear of such behaviors herself.

Labeling 2Baba’s actions as disgusting, Ifedayo condemned him for abandoning Annie Idibia during her most vulnerable moments, especially when she faced harsh public scrutiny. She further highlighted how he had consistently subjected Annie to public humiliation since she was just 18 years old.

“First they groom you, then you lose yourself and then they dump you. I am so angry! I never involve myself with things like this but this is a disgusting behavior by this man. In the time when this woman was being bashed, you had to say this? Knowing you constantly humiliated her publicly since I was 18 years old? Why now? Why heap more fire on her reputation? Never choose a man over yourself.  No one is INDISPENSABLE! Gosh!”.

Big Brother Naija’s former housemate Khloe Abiri questioned why 2Baba would make such an announcement at a time when Annie was already facing relentless backlash on social media for her behavior on the Young, Famous & African reality show.

While withholding further comments for now, she expressed hope that the announcement was a prank, warning that if it wasn’t, she would join the chorus of critics against him. The reality star also shared her sadness over how cruel love can sometimes be.

Ossai Ovie Success, the aid to Delta State Governor also slammed 2Baba. He criticized 2Baba for his insensitive post, pointing out that Annie had recently suffered the loss of twins and was already enduring severe backlash for her portrayal on the Young, Famous & African reality show.

He argued that the singer should have chosen a more appropriate time to announce their separation, considering the emotional toll Annie was already facing.

“It’s the wrong timing for 2face to announce his marriage breakup. Just last year, Annie suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage while expecting twins.

The past few weeks and months have been hell for Annie Idibia, considering the intense backlash she has faced online.

If 2face was serious about announcing their separation, he should have waited for a more opportune time.

This pøorly timed announcement is not only insensitive but also disappointing, especially given Annie’s recent struggles”.

Celebrity fashion designer, Toyin Lawani stated that we shouldn’t kick someone when they are already down. She advocated for love, live and learn.

“Do not kick someone when they are already down. Love, Live and Learn”.
