It’s throwback Thursday and we’re looking at these long time and aged comfortable garments made of soft materials; Bell bottoms. With their clingy top parts (at the thighs) and flared bottom parts, these wears look flattering on practically anybody.

Bell bottoms are associated with the mid ‘70s, they had their first big moment in this time, with the likes of Sonny and Cher, The Jackson 5, Joni Hendrix and Bowie, all sporting moderate to ultra flared bell bottoms in various kinds of cuts, prints and colors.

It is however said that their origin was before this, that they were designed by the US Navy to be worn by sailors.

At some point, bell bottoms stood to demand attention and represent rebellion in a society pervaded with straight leg pants.

Eventually, bell bottoms became mainstream and gained more relevance in the disco days of ‘80s.

For about three years now, bell bottoms have had a massive come back and it seems to have returned for good. Although, some would now call it ‘Flare jeans’, we all still know it still is our popular ‘grandpa’s bell bottoms’.
