“The disrespect was too much” – Singer, Erigga reveals why he has been boycotting Headies Award

Nigerian hip-hop singer and rapper, Erhiga Agarivbie, better known as Erigga has reacted to the nomination list for the 16th edition of Headies Awards released by its organizers.

Erigga took to the microblogging platform, Twitter, to declare that he has been deliberately avoiding participation in the Headies Award.

Erigga disclosed that he began boycotting the Headies after his 2020 album ‘The Erigma II’ lost out in the Best Rap Album category at the 14th edition of the award show. He accused Headies organisers of disrespecting artists from the South-South region.

The ‘Ayeme’ crooner noted that he won’t lend importance to any organization that doesn’t show respect or appreciation towards the South-South region.

Sharing the art cover of his 2020 album ‘The Erigma II’, he tweeted

“Na from here I don take boycott all these f*ckers (Headies) the disrespect was too much for the south south to take… If you don’t like us and not going to respect our craft then it’s f*ck you and everything you represent; that’s it.”

Despite his album “The Lost Boy” being released during the year under review, the rapper hailing from Warri did not receive any nominations.
