The Best And Worst Dressed At The AMVCA

The word “glam” is thrown around by stylists before the AMVCA. It’s the moment when the stars step out in glamorous outfits and we that aren’t stars observe, praise or criticize. For someone who work in fashion I know how challenging this must be so I hereby offer my apologies in advance because some of your faves might get dragged in this article. The below are my top three best dressed from the event and top three worst dressed:

Former Big Brother Housemate, Anto in blush draped Bibi Lawrence gown with gold embellishments. The fit of this gown was perfection. The cape was divine and to be honest the entire look was top notch. Paired with Gold clutch and strappy heels. Styled by the infamous Noble Igwe, Anto looked like royalty.

Rita Dominic is no stranger to edgy fashion. This assymetric voluminous taffeta bodice and figure hugging gown by Tubo has been praised by many. However it remained me of me the Saint Laurent dress Rihanna wore at her 30th birthday early this year. But the great thing about this gown is the cobalt blue looks elegant on Rita Dominic and the fit is perfection.

Former Big Brother Naija Housemate CeeC opted for the old hollywood glam in this dazzling embellished sultry red Lanre Da Silva Ajayi number. The delicate feathers at the bottom was also a nice touch. Ceec looked ravishing in this figure hugging gown which makes her one of the best dressed.

With the hype of Wakanda movement I feel a tad let down whenever I see African designers ripping off foreign designers when we should be aiming higher. This gown reminded me of the monarch Butterfly gown Moschino gown worn by Zendaya at the premiere of The Greatest Showman. If anything this look had a slightly different twist with the African like print however this gown by PMLuxury wasn’t working for me. Some of you may gasp and raise your pitchforks at me but it’s simply my opinion. Dakore is in my worst dressed list, you may ignore it like I would like to ignore that distracting pink clutch.

If the AMVCA was a costume party maybe this would fly but this over the top feathered gown designed by House of Jahdara for former Big Brother Naija housemate, Bamike Adewumi, popularly called Bambam, turned heads for perhaps the wrong reasons. There’s no denying that it was unflattering.

Appalling is probably the word I would use to describe Former Big Brother Naija Housemate, TBoss, in her bright yellow net with yellow beading work and an overwhelming layer of damask which was a disaster. This gown was designed by Lanre Da Silva Ajayi but perhaps not for the right person as in my opinion it aged Tokunbo Idowo.
