Tems becomes the first female Nigerian Artiste to win BET Best International Act, bags double awards

Temilade Ogeniyi, also known as Tems, is an award-winning singer who recently broke records by becoming the first female Afrobeats musician from Nigeria to win an award at the recently held BET Awards.

At the awards ceremony on Sunday, June 26th, the artist who consistently makes Nigerians proud took home two prizes.

Tems beat over competitors like Fireboy, Dave, Major League, and others to win the award for best International Act, becoming the first female Nigerian musician to do so.

Adding to her accomplishments, Tems, 27, won the Best Collaboration award for her and Justin Bieber’s appearance on Wizkid’s song “Essence.”

This wasn’t just a big night for Tems alone but for Nigerian artistes as well.

Singer, Fireboy also took centre stage with his incredible performance at the event.
