Gisele, 42, spoke to Vanity Fair for an interview to accompany a stunning cover shoot for the magazine’s April issue, describing the speculation surrounding her split from Tom, 45, as “very hurtful,” while insisting that she has only ever “wanted all of his dreams to come true.”

‘Listen, I have always cheered for him, and I will continue to do so indefinitely,’ she said. ‘If there’s one person on the planet I want to be the happiest for, it’s him, believe me. I want him to succeed and to win. I want all of his wishes to come true. That is truly what I desire from the bottom of my heart.’

While vehemently denying that her divorce had anything to do with Tom’s decision to reverse his retirement from the NFL, Gisele – who added that the split was ‘like a death and a rebirth’ – claimed that the reason for their split after 13 years of marriage was much more innocent, claiming that the pair simply ‘grew apart’ and realized that they wanted ‘different things’.

‘You grow together sometimes, and sometimes you grow apart,’ she explained. ‘When I was 26 and he was 29, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted to do things together.

‘As time passes, we realize that we simply desired different things, and we now have a choice. That doesn’t mean you don’t care about the individual. It simply means that in order to be authentic and truly live the life you want to live, you need someone who can meet you in the middle, right? It’s a performance. It’s a delicate balance.’

The supermodel, whose fashion career has seen a massive resurgence since her divorce from Tom, also slammed any suggestion that she is ‘anti-football,’ saying she ‘loved’ watching her ex-husband play.

She even spoke out to defend his lackluster final season with the Buccaneers, appearing to blame for their losses on Tom’s teammates, saying: ‘It’s a team sport and you can’t play alone. Under the circumstances, I believe he performed admirably. He had no offensive line, after all.’

Tom and Gisele divorced on October 28 of last year, calling it quits with a gushing public announcement shared on social media.
