The footballer was on RAC1 when he was asked about Shakira’s No.1 TQG, which includes scathing lyrics about her ex and his new girlfriend.
Shakira makes it clear that she is referring to Clara Chia, 23, whom Gerard is said to have started dating last year before they split, saying, ‘I’m worth two 22’s. You exchanged your Ferrari for a Twingo. You exchanged your Rolex for a Casio.’
‘Yes, obviously,’ the ex-soccer player replied, before adding: ‘I don’t want to talk about it’.
‘We have a responsibility, those of us who are parents must protect our children,’ he continued, referring to the two children he shares with Shakira. Everyone makes their own choices. I’m not feeling like talking right now. I just want my kids to be okay.’
‘I’ve always had a close bond with my children. Nothing makes me happier than to see my son smile.’
