Shakira declares Beyoncé ‘Queen of Pop’

Colombian singer Shakira has declared her American colleague, Beyoncé as “the queen” of pop.

The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ crooner declared Beyoncé queen in the latest episode of her show, Shakira Radio Station on Apple Music.

She highlighted Beyoncé’s significant contributions to women of colour in the United States and globally, as well as to women in general.

She said

“She [Beyoncé’] is the queen. I mean, this is just so incredible, what she does for minorities in the US and around the world, what she’s done for women of color, what she’s done for women in general. The purpose that her life and her music has, it’s undeniable and it’s of a great magnitude”

In 2006, Shakira and Beyoncé collaborated on the hit song ‘Beautiful Liar’.
