Nigerian music star, Seun Kuti has honored his late father and pioneer of Afrobeat music,  Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, with a touching tribute 27 years after his death.

In an emotional Instagram post, Seun reflected on Fela’s lasting influence and the profound mark he’s left on their lives.

He shared his deep love and admiration for his father, revealing that Fela’s influence runs through every part of his music.

Every year since you passed to the great beyond, your impact on our lives has continued to grow.

“Every note, every phrase, every dance, every song and every album is to show my love for you. “I miss you! I play my sax for you dad, I live for your legacy and I am loyal to the mission. Love you big man more than words can express.”

In other news, Seun Kuti opens up about why he isn’t close with his first daughter.

In a recent interview with Timi Agbaje, Seun Kuti shared that becoming a father is his greatest achievement, emphasizing the joy of raising his daughter.

However, the Afrobeat star, who has two daughters from different mothers, admitted that he isn’t close to his first daughter, citing a lack of connection with her mother as the reason.

He said,

“The greatest thing I have ever achieved is becoming a father, having my daughter, being with her, and raising her.

“I have two kids but I’m not really close to my other daughter but to have the joy of that is the greatest achievement of my life for sure”.

When asked about his relationship with his first daughter’s mother, Seun Kuti described the situation as complicated, acknowledging that no family is perfect.

He clarified that he wasn’t married at the time and had only engaged in premarital sex twice before his first daughter’s birth.
