Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has apologised to Nigeria’s Senior Advocate, Femi Falana, and clarified that he has no control over what social critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) posts on social media.

Seun posted this statement on Instagram on Friday in response to Falana’s comment on Channels Television Politics Today, in which he stated that he has never spoken with crossdresser Bobrisky.
Falana vowed to take legal action against VDM, stating that he would initiate civil proceedings to restore his and his son Falz’s integrity.
On September 24th, VeryDarkMan posted an audio clip allegedly featuring a conversation between Bobrisky and a male friend. Bobrisky claimed in the audio that Falz and his father Falana attempted to obtain a presidential pardon for him in exchange for N10 million while he was in prison.
While analysing the audio, VDM chastised Falz and his father for associating with Bobrisky, even questioning Falz’ sexual orientation.
Following the release of the video, Seun Kuti addressed the situation, stating that, while he and VDM have a good relationship, he has no control over VDM’s actions. He clarified that VDM had told him about the audio clip but had never played it for him.
Seun stated that he had no intention to defame or insult Falana, who had been his late father, Fela Kuti’s lawyer.
“I deeply apologise if this offended Uncle Femi. It was never my intention. I do not want to be involved in any issues, especially against someone like Uncle Femi, with whom we have come a long way,” he stated.
Kuti also expressed his disapproval of people associating him with VDM’s posts.
“Am I VDM’s producer? Does he send me scripts for approval? I didn’t even know he was going to add innuendos in his video. Even if I had told him not to do it, he would have done it anyway,” he said.
