The 24-year-old received a life sentence on Wednesday at the British Columbia Supreme Court in Vancouver. CBC Canada says that he won’t be eligible for parole for 14 years.

According to the source, Justice Kathleen Ker stated that the heartbreaking impact of the incident was demonstrated by the victim’s loved ones’ riveting remarks, such as Grantham’s sister. The actor’s “saving grace,” she continued, was that he was sufficiently cognizant of his actions and refrained from going on a rampage.

When discussing Grantham’s mental health troubles, Ker mentioned that the actor had been having issues weeks before he shot his mother and had been watching violent content on the dark web.

He is receiving psychiatric care while incarcerated and seems to be getting better, according to Ker, who spoke to CBC.

Grantham is not surprised by the sentence, according to the child actor’s attorney Chris Johnson, who was quoted by CTV.

“I think he anticipated what the judge gave him as a sentence,” Johnson said. “I think he’s pretty apprehensive about the whole thing. He’s a fairly tiny person, and to go to the prison system, I’m sure it’s a daunting and scary thought for him.”
