Ned Nwoko, a former member of the House of Representatives and husband to popular actress, Regina Daniels, has vowed to sue Sahara Reporters for two articles, one of which details his intention to forcibly grab another 90 hectares of land in his village.
Nwoko issued the threat in a letter to the editor of the publication written by his lawyer, Onyeka Nwokolo of Rolls Law Firm.
According to SaharaReporters, the former lawmaker ordered the arrest of Chukwunonso Nwoko, the former monarch of the Idumuje-Ugboko in Delta State’s Aniocha North Local Government Area, and then ordered the police to ransack his palace for opposing his attempt to forcibly acquire an additional 90 hectares of land from an area earmarked for all indigenes of the community.
This came after the former monarch was kidnapped and jailed by the authorities in an Asaba police cell.
On the instructions of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Chukwunonso, who was accused with murder orchestrated by Nwoko, was later discharged.
According to a source familiar with the police activities, Nwoko was the one who told the Asaba police leadership that the palace was heavily laden with modern military weapons.
SaharaReporters previously detailed how the former congressman enticed some powerful African leaders to invest in his “fictitious big enterprises.”
Nigerians have however taken to social media to react to the report.
