Bobrisky Saga: Reactions trail Seun Kuti’s apology to Femi Falana (video)

Netizens have reacted to the heartfelt apology Afrobeats singer, Seun Kuti tendered to human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana.

Glamsquad recalls that VeryDarkMan released a call recording where Bobrisky claimed to have offered N15 million to the operatives of the EFCC to drop the money laundering charges against him and help him evade jail term at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos State.

Following the uproar, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede called for an internal investigation and summoned VDM and Bobrisky to the commission’s office in Lagos to help with the investigation.

On his path, Bobrisky denied the content of the call recording and tagged it ‘fake’ and an attempt to defame him. He also noted that he served his full jail.

Following this, Falz issued a 24-hour ultimatum to VDM, demanding the retraction of all defamatory statements regarding his father.

In VDM’s defence, his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, issued a statement highlighting that VDM holds a deep respect for Femi Falana, a distinguished Senior Advocate of Nigeria and human rights activist. The statement emphasized that VDM had no intention to defame Falana; instead, he aimed to prompt an investigation into the allegations made by Bobrisky, which Falz himself partially corroborated.

Adding to VDM’s woes, Femi Falana’s representatives released an official statement demanding that the former retract the defamatory allegations, warning of possible legal action.

Reacting on social media, VeryDarkMan denied the defamation claims against Femi Falana and affirmed his respect for him.

VDM also publicly apologized to Femi Falana during his appearance before the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions on Monday, 30th September 2024.

Consequently, Seun Kuti faced backlash for his involvement with VeryDarkMan for allegedly allowing the latter to disrespect Femi Falana.

Addressing the matter in a recent video, Seun Kuti clarified that he has no authority over how VeryDarkMan and how he chooses to express himself on social media. He added that trying to censor the online critic would be pointless, as VeryDarkMan operates independently.

Seun Kuti offered an apology to Femi Falana, expressing his disagreement with VeryDarkMan’s remarks about the senior lawyer in a viral video.
