On Big Boy’s Neighborhood on Real 92.3, the 47-year-old rapper admitted that his initial assessment of the situation was incorrect.
‘I’m going to apologize to Megan Thee Stallion,’ said the If I Can’t rapper. ‘I said some things, and it was because… When she was with Gayle [King], she asked me on social media, “Were you intimate with Tory Lanez?”
“What?” she asked. and it said, “No.” “Ah, she’s lying,” I thought. At that point, I knew she was lying; there would be no reason for them to be together. That made me think she was lying to me.’
After hearing the jailhouse conversation between Lanez and Megan’s one-time friend Kelsey Harris, the rap artist, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, began to feel like he’should apologize to her,’ he said.
‘That made me feel like, ‘Oh s***, now I know what happened; I’m sure that’s what swayed people in court too,’ said the Candy Shop artist.
Last month, 50 Cent shared a meme on social media in which he compared Megan to Jussie Smollett, who was convicted last year of lying about the circumstances of a 2019 attack in Chicago.
Lanez faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted on all counts in the July 2020 shooting.
They include assault with a semiautomatic firearm, transporting a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and negligently discharging a firearm. He will be sentenced on January 27.
