Many of the designs’ holographic shimmers were inspired by the virtual world, Kadi said. The origami folds, pleats, and over-embellishments of his wedding gown, a statement dress made of pink and white fabric ruffles with a heart motif, or the ostrich-feather embellishments of a cropped bustier cocktail dress, for example, were three-dimensional effects that were more noticeable in the real world, even though their vibrant aesthetics would also stand out in the metaverse.
Kadi continues to play around with virtual clothing. He will introduce a line of NFT clothes the following week, claiming to be the first Middle Eastern designer to do so. And even in the virtual world, his creations are meant to be worn.
