BigSam argued on his Instagram page that Nedu’s comments implied that every female celebrity lives off the money she receives from men rather than working hard.

His post says:

“What exactly is @nedu wazobiafm saying?

I’m not sure I understand what Nedu is trying to say. You just shredded the industry’s credibility, bro. You just implied that when we see our ‘favorite female’ influencers doing well, we shouldn’t think they ‘got’ there by being credible; instead, we should all believe they’re sleeping with your ‘rich’ friends or the rich friends of others.

How come you didn’t notice any female influencers making legitimate money? Who were you sleeping with when you were at the top of the influencer list?

You just threw the majority of female influencers under the bus with your unguarded statement. You have set many people on the path of thinking, analyzing, and speculating.

I’m not concerned with the credibility of your story (many have suggested you’re capping), but rather with you bringing down the entire industry, particularly women, just to make a point and get a click. You’re not even man enough to defend the girls (I’m not saying they’re saints) who got dragged into the mess you made.

As an industry elder, as a leader with platforms, you should be defending the industry rather than tearing it down. We can’t blame blogs for speculating or naming names when an elder like you is already firing on all cylinders in anticipation of your return.

NB: This year, I negotiated a nearly $20 million deal for an influencer. A few years ago, I reviewed the contract of a Yoruba-speaking influencer worth $12 million, @iamlizzyjay. Yvonne Jegede @iamyvonnejegede has already made millions this year. Toyin @toyin abraham and Funke Akindele @funkejenifaakindele have made hundreds of millions this year; this year, I called Kie-kie for a 10 million deal, but she wanted 15 million. Linda Ikeji sold her film to Netflix for millions of dollars this year. Last year, ROK gave many Red Cameras to filmmakers, each worth $10 million. The company’s CEO is Mary Njoku, a woman (in case you didn’t know). Many women are already winning this year; you should see that and tell us more about it instead of your fornicating and wayward friend. By the way, show me your friend and I’ll almost certainly know who you are.”
