Messry Lung’atso, a Kenyan-born model, won the third African edition of the Beauty of Africa International (Baip) 2022.
She made history by becoming the third winner of the prestigious annual pageant for African beauty that was held over the weekend at the Sheraton Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria.
She defeated 10 rival delegates from various African nations to win the title of grand queen. Other winners at the pageant competition included Miss Nigeria, Okereke Juliana, and Ghana’s Prisca Abah, who were both named first runners-up.
The event was hosted by seasoned comic Gordons and former Miss International Nigeria and Baip 2019 Winner Alice Duke, and it was full of class and incredible performances from the contestants.
The president of Baip, Engr Daniel Opuene, reacted to the event’s success and thanked the delegates for competing, saying, “We are proud to host yet another successful African pageant this year. As a reflection of our vision; we are committed towards promoting inclusiveness and delegates with the best attributes.
“I must also commend all the delegates who travelled far and near to participate in the pageant this year. We’ve raised the bar high as a standard, transparent African pageant and will continue to move in this direction. Once again congratulations to the winners and looking forward to an amazing journey with them”, he said.
