Ooni of Ife moves on from Silekunola, marries new wife, Mariam Anako

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has remarried after his marriage to Evangelist Silekunola Naomi was annulled.

On Tuesday night, his new wife, oil and gas executive Mariam Anako, was welcomed into the palace.

She can be seen knelt before the Ooni in images and videos as he bestows his blessing on her. The new Olori later took a seat next to the Ooni.

The Ooni’s in-laws were reported to have met with him at the family introduction on February 19, 2022.

There was no formal ceremony and it was private.

Additionally, it was said that the chalet where the former queen Naomi and her family had lived had undergone renovations.

The 47-year-old monarch is currently married for the fourth time.

Oba Ogunwusi and Adebukola Bombata were married in 2008 before the monarch took the throne in 2015.

He also had a brief love affair as a teenager with Omolara Olatunbosun, who in 1994 gave birth to Adeola Anuoluwapo for him.

His marriage to Bini princess Zaynab Wuraola Otiti in March 2016 was annulled due to irreconcilable differences.

Naomi and Ooni were wed in October 2018. But three years later, right before Christmas, she made her breakup with the Ooni public.

She claimed that she left the monarch not because of the other women in his life but rather because of the discrepancy between his public persona and his true nature.

Prince Tadenikawo, the son of their union, turned one in November 2021, just before Naomi left the palace.

She wrote in her Instagram post, “I did my best to endure and make it work; many times, I smiled through the struggle, but I have finally realised I had just one assignment, my son, and when God is done, He is done.”

The new queen, meanwhile, is a Kogi State native of the Ebira ethnic group. Anako’s parents reside in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.
