African movie stars like Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Van Vicker have had to play romantic roles in movies, which is purely professional.
However, fans fantasize about romantic scenes in movies and sometimes stir up gossip that actors are having affairs outside their professional roles.
For the actors, playing romantic scenes is not easy because of the heavy camera presence, but they have to be professionals. Actors have preferences for who they enjoy playing romantic roles with.Omotola and Van Vicker seem to enjoy romantic roles together.
In a 2015 interview with Olisa Adibua, Omotola revealed that she has had to feature in several romantic scenes, but she enjoyed kissing Van Vicker on set.
Omotola said:
“Van Vicker…Hmmm, let me see. My husband is going to kill me for this. I have done like two or three movies with him, as in romantic bed room scenes and he kissed so well. But you know, bedroom scenes are not as glamorous as you guys think. Like you are seeing such movies and you say ‘Oh my God, these guys are having fun. Too bad, those scenes are the most uncomfortable parts in movies because everyone is there…’’

In a 2021 interview with Sammy Kay, the Ghanaian actor would say something similar when quizzed about the actress he prefers having for romantic roles. Vicker, who is also married just like Omotola, said he enjoyed kissing her on set, but only on a professional basis, insisting that it didn’t go farther than that.
Van Vicker said:
“I enjoy it (kissing) as a character but there is a difference, we have the professionalism. So if you have to carry yourself into acting as Van Vicker, then you will enjoy it, but if you carry yourself as a professional, then whatever you do is not Van, but the character.”
Omotola and Van Vicker are some of Africa’s biggest stars.
