A video of Olori Tobi nee Phillips, the new wife of Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, berating married men who cheat on their wives has gone viral.
On Sunday, October 9, Tobi, a former beauty queen, married the monarch. She is an accomplished model and University of Lagos graduate in marine science.
On September 5, she shared the now-viral video on Instagram.
“Your marriage is just a piece of paper if all you do is chase everything under a skirt,” she said in the video.
Tobi also addressed women, saying, “I wonder if people get married for the sake of society these days…maybe not really because they love the person.”
She added, “I say this because so many marriages are short-lived, it gets met worried.”
Tobi inquired whether women choose who they marry for societal reasons or because it is truly what they want.
The former World Miss University Africa urged women to stop discouraging people who want to marry and stay married, such as herself.
On cohabiting, she said, “It takes the grace of God for you to maintain that longevity, even when you love the person.”
