Nokia Is Introducing a Cloud-Based Software Subscription Service

Nokia, the Finnish telecommunications behemoth, has unveiled a number of Software as a Service (SaaS) options for communication service providers (CSP).

The company claims that its software will provide solutions for analytics, security, and data management. Some of the software is already available, while others will be released next year.

Nokia has a few cloud-based services planned for early 2022, including NetGuard Cybersecurity Dome and Anomaly Detection. Both are concerned with cybersecurity and endpoint protection, with the former attempting to decrease harmful actors’ network stay time, reduce manual activities, and improve 5G network reaction time. The latter, on the other hand, is a machine learning tool that learns what proper network behavior looks like and strives to eliminate anomalies, as the name suggests.

The SaaS market is being targeted.
For quite some time, Nokia has been hard at work transitioning itself into a SaaS firm. It established a software division in 2016, according to Senior VP Mark Bunn, but never followed through on the plan to offer subscription-based software.

He told Reuters, “Now we have executed on it… we have established core technology to be able to operate at scale.”

Nokia says it will focus on the $3.1 billion CSP and enterprise SaaS market, which is expected to develop at a rate of 25-30 percent annually over the next few years.

According to reports, these tools (and others in the future) will be packaged into three different service packages, or “suites,” one for Digital Engagement, one for Marketplaces, and one for Networking. Some services, such as those related to cybersecurity, will very certainly be offered across all suites.

Nokia Data Management (NDM), for example, is now commercially available after being released as a subscription model in early 2021. It provides “an easy and secure way” to share and access data. Companies in a variety of other industries, like as transportation and energy, can expect increased automation, efficiency, and scalability as a result of CSPs.
