Former Givenchy creative director, and Italian fashion designer, Riccardo Tisci has teamed up with footwear and apparel giants, Nike. Weeks back, leaked images surfaced – claiming to be the iconic Air Max 97. The shoes originally released in the 90s has been recreated by the couture designer. The sneakers are to debut and hit stores on Air Max Day (March 23rd, 2017).
The sneakers which are submerged and highly influenced by Italian culture features a suede-ish on the tongue area, and a pure leather builds to the black colorway. A gold swoosh logo also accentuates the shoe with contrasting white rubber soles – a sure masterpiece for the streetwear community.
In an interview with Nike News, the Italian designer said:
The Air Max 97 had huge influence and impact on Italian culture. The Air Max 97 is an iconic, young shoe of 90s. At the time I was involved with DJs and music, and in the clubs the people leading the big waves were wearing Air Max. That period has a lot of history. It was the first meeting of sportswear and fashion.
