Glamsquad reports that Simi, a multi-award-winning Nigerian singer, has set a new record by becoming the first female artist to reach 100 million streams on Boomplay.
Simi achieved this landmark achievement after the release of her fifth solo project, ‘To Be Honest (TBH).’
Simi joins the illustrious list of Nigerian artists who have amassed 100 million streams on Boomplay, including Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Fireboy DML, Omah Lay, and Joeboy.
Tosin Sorinola, Boomplay’s Director of Artiste & Media Relations, stated, “Boomplay is dedicated to amplifying voices and ensuring inclusion and representation in music.” As an organization, we will continue to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women around the world.”
Simi has established herself as a super talented multi-award-winning songwriter and singer since breaking into the mainstream with her single ‘Tiff’ in 2014. Her 2017 eponymous album ‘Simisola’ won album of the year at the Headies, and her extensive knowledge of music has led to her appointment as a judge on the seventh season of Nigerian Idol 2022.
Boomplay, one of Nigeria’s leading music streaming platforms, made the announcement on social media to commemorate the monumental achievement.
The accomplishment is significant not only for Simi, but also for other female artists whose talent has created a spine for the female side of Nigeria’s rapidly growing music industry.
